The Bachelor of Science in Art Education is an undergraduate degree designed for students who intend to become art educators in K-12 (kindergarten through 12th grade) schools. Admission to this program is through achieving a minimum 2.75 GPA in all NIU and transfer courses AND pass an entrance portfolio review before the completion of ARTE 200 AND successfully complete the Test of Academic Proficiency (TAP) OR have ACT Plus Writing (22 composition) OR SAT (critical reading + mathematics ≥ 1030). Then, students must submit and pass an exit portfolio review during the semester prior to student teaching in order to be approved for student teaching. All portfolio reviews are done at the end of the fall and spring semesters.
