ARTE 345: High school clinical experience
Course Description
This course focuses on secondary curriculum development to prepare students for teaching art and design. It involves the study of curriculum theory and research, as well as curriculum practices, and addresses the wide range of issues and topics of curriculum necessary for new teachers in the field.
The course includes discussions of the historical, sociopolitical and cultural aspects of schooling as they relate to art and design educational programming, curriculum leadership, artistic development, contemporary curriculum issues (such as multicultural inclusion, uses of technology, and interdisciplinary planning), instructional methods, curriculum implementation, program evaluation, student assessment, and community resources. This is the capstone project course for the art education licensure programs.
