End Times http://www.papermag.com/2013/05/jill_greenbergs_end_times.php In the classroom I would use this piece as a way to break the social “norm”, protecting children at all costs. This photographer breaks this cycle and gets heavy reviews on her collection stating it was immoral to making children cry for Art. Students are always put in limitations and do not always have a chance to break outside of their comfort zone. This series does exactly that. It challenges humans to truly see emotions at their purest form. By showing my students this, I could then have them create social norms and figure out ways to break barriers through their own art. |

Interior with Mirrored Wall http://www.guggenheim.org/new-york/collections/collection-online/artwork/2501 Drawing or painting still-lifes is a very needed skill to have as an artist. The act of drawing what is seen relates to hand-eye coordination and proportions. In the classroom this skill could be done in many ways. Step by step, creating an outline of what is put in front of the student, a still life set up of some sort, or even hallway drawings. Then, using the pop art technique of variation of lines, solid colors, and Benday-dots to enhance the still life. |

Oscar Selfie http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/film/oscars/10674655/Oscars-2014-The-most-famous-selfie-in-the-world-sorry-Liza.html By showing this image in the classroom, students can relate to the term “selfie”. This slang term is the obvious nature of this image. By adding the actors and actresses, students understand the mainstream media, relating it to the Oscars showing or just pop culture awards in general. With this happening recent (within the last couple years), this image is popular and very well understood by students. They not only recognize it, but also the actors and actresses that are in the image itself. From there they could create their own "selfie" of who is important or a hero in their life. This could be done in any medium. |

Typical Classroom in Br. Andrew Gonzales Hall https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classroom Half of the time when students end up not paying attention they look at their surroundings. Any student placed in this photograph would be, bored. By relating this photograph to my future teaching plans, I must be able to create an environment with not only a good positive atmosphere, but also with color and attractive décor to also keep students engaged in learning. |

Sculpture 2 http://frenchforestsculptures.blogspot.com/search/label/Sculpture%202 This artist is a perfect match for my extending lesson for 5th grade. Not only is he an artist that works in the environment, but students can be inspired by his large-scale installations so they have ideas for their own design. |

Bike Arch http://www.ecomena.org/recycling-art/ Relating this image to the extended lesson I would like to teach for this fall, it is a great example to start a discussion with my students about recycling installations. On a large scale, this piece is interactive and open so that the viewer can walk and see all angles. Students can be inspired from this image, to create new ideas for their own installation! |
